It is crucial to increase our current understanding of the underlying physics related to pellet injection in helical devices. Comparisons of experimental observations of pellet ablation and material deposition in W7-X, LHD, TJ-II and Heliotron J with HPI2 calculations will be shown. In addition, the latest results of dedicated pellet experiments on TJ-II using fast-frame cameras will be presented.
