Detailed studies of ICRF start-up in He+H<sub>2<\/sub> mixture were carried out on medium-size stellarator Uragan-2M (U-2M) in Kharkiv, Ukraine. In ICRF start-up in He+H<sub>2<\/sub> mixture at the first harmonic of the hydrogen cyclotron frequency the plasma density is several times higher than in pure hydrogen and helium gases. The ICRF plasma production scenario developed at the U-2M was realized at the bigger machine, Large Helical Device (LHD), Toki, Japan. Successful experiments at the LHD showed that the ICRF start-up scenario can be scaled up to large stellarator devices. It is possible to produce dense plasmas up to 10<sup>19<\/sup> m<sup>-3<\/sup> in density and up to 2.5 keV in electron temperature. The first ICRF plasma start-up experiments were conducted at Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) in Greifswald, Germany.
