Microscopic plasma dynamics considerably affect magnetic plasma confinement via turbulent transport. Gyrokinetic simulations have been successfully demonstrate full-scale transport processes in the core region of the confinement devices. We are applying the gyrokinetic simulation to edge plasma dynamics in helical-type confinement devices. Key challenging issues include (i) kinetic treatment of magnetized particle motion in stochastic field line structures, (ii) dynamic interaction between the turbulent transport and ionization processes and (iii) effects of potential structure in the end-points of open magnetic field line.
